If you arrive from the north (via Salzburg), you will drive through the Ennstal, also well know for its beauty and scenic views of the alpine mountains.
You can reach Graz also from the south, Italy and Slovenia. Coming from Slovenia is most likely the easiest way. Ljubljana and Maribor, two major cities in Slovenia will be on your way and reach out for a short coffee break in the old city centers. If you depart in Italy then you will cross Carinthia, an Austrian province that is well know for its beautiful lakes.
